I read every email you send, and I always find them thoughtful and on point. But today’s message exceeded my expectations. Thank you for raising your voice and for choosing not to be a bystander.

My grandfather fought with Patton's Third Army and was made to see the concentrations camps. When he came home, he made my mom and his brothers watch documentaries about them. And in turn, as I grew up, my mom made sure I understood the importance of "never again." I thought everyone understood. After October 7th, I was horrified to see the response, and I realized that what my family did was unusual for a non-Jewish family. Since then, a friend of mine and I have been reading as much as we can about Jewish history so we actually understand what's going on. I am constantly amazed at the ignorance, and at the blatant double-standards. I am grateful for people like you (and The Free Press, Times of Israel, Epoch Times, and any news outlet that is actually reporting from all sides and is attempting to get the truth out there). Thank you for speaking out.

Thank you for such a touching and educational writing. I learned a lot from your insight and agree with EVERYTHING you have said. I pray that God helps us all find tolerance, peace, respect for one another and cherish and respect the world that God has provided for us.

Thank you for writing this, Robert. These behaviors are a slippery slope to what happened before WWII. I agree with your thoughts. These behaviors and incidents need to be called out, and I will be more proactive about checking in with my Jewish friends.

I will forever not understand hate. I will forever not understand indifference to others. I will forever not understand how someone doesn't value life, either their own or others.

Thank you for your post. I feel terrible having to say, “I admire your courage”, when people will say anything hateful, hurtful or dangerous without any fear of repercussions. You speak the truth with conviction and honesty, and I find myself hoping you will not suffer harm in its wake.

Thank you Robert for posting this!!! So well said and necessary. It always amazes me, as a grandchild of holocaust survivors- that no one ever stands behind the Jewish people.

As a Canadian Jew, I could not agree more with your post. The hate we have been experiencing since October 7 has made us all fearful, not just for ourselves, but for our future in Canada as a community. We especially fear for our children. Although it would be nice if good people everywhere called out the hate unequivocally to stand up for the Jewish people, ultimately, I think they should do it for themselves, because whether they know it or not, our fight is their fight too.

I have a deep appreciation for the way you construct society’s hardships in to digestible content. I just hope this article doesn’t fall on deaf ears.

What a necessary and powerful read for a non-Jewish person to empathise and put everything into perspective. I had felt that Netanyahu was war mongering. He did send the first shot to Iran and seemed intransigent in his position on Gaza. I will reach out to our Jewish friends to check on them and their grown up family. I can see how scary this escalation is for them.. the UK is not immune from violence. I pray for peace, love and the values of honesty, integrity and empathy, which are lacking in leaders globally. You’d think we would be better humans in 2025.

Awesome post, Bob. Thank you for writing it. You did a great job articulating what so many of us have been feeling. Watching the world apply double standards to Jews with little awareness or concern is INCREDIBLY frustrating. The dimensions you call out where this is festering are spot on. It’s exhausting to constantly explain or defend the oppressors by default thinking...

That said, all is not lost. In my experience, many many non-Jews are supportive of Israel and the Jewish people.... They just don’t get the airtime.
